Esu

Who is Esu?
Esu is primarily an official of special relations
between Orun (sky) and Aye (Earth). he is
the "general inspector" or the confidential
secretary of Olodumare, which makes the final
recommendation to Olodumare for the latter
approval. He also reports on a regular basis a
Olodumare on the actions of men and deities,
wrong worship in general and
sacrifices in particular.
Traditions say that it is only the Babalawos
[If priests] who understand ESU inside and out.
In reality, their roles are complementary. Esu is
the deity of the right hand in Orunmila; and the
Esu's duty to run errands for Orunmila and see
to the perfect completion of all the Orunmila
wishes. He (Esu) must always be present
and carries out the orders of Orunmila. Orunmila is
assigned the duty to listen to the voice of
Olodumare through divination and declare his
(Olodumare's) will be for the world but, everywhere
the statement of the formators is not heard, it is
the duty of ESU to enforce the will of Olodumare
bringing some calamity as a kind of
punishment on the recalcitrant. Orunmila in
returns of the functions above to Esu always
from the first thing to Esu in his drinks and food to
every meal apart from the special appeasement
to Esu for special assignments. Therefore,
there is a very strong link between Esu and
Orunmila (Babalawo). Esu is the apprentice e
bearer of sacrifices in Orun (ie the spirit world)
and it is well known to babalawos as a door -
open or man gate: Olureku / Onibode o
Better to put OSETURA.
ORISA Esu can ruin things if they are not done
as prescribed. As an executor of the will of
Olodumare of the deities and man, Esu
it would certainly bring bad and good things
people depend on their frequency
maintained with the will of Olodumare. This is the
reason behind the misrepresentation of ESU as
"Devil" from those who are superficial in the
knowledge of the land duties of the ESU.
Esu is a personification of good and evil, which
it is a recognition of presence and co
- existence of positive and negative forces in

the world.
